As already mentioned in the recent blog post “The Dignified Self is becoming a management topic“, I will be speaking at the RETHINK! ITEM Europe 2016 conference in London in April. The event is described as “the leading digital IT event for CIOs & senior IT executives in Europe.” It brings together “150+ CIOs, Heads of IT and other IT decision makers to connect, network, and discuss key topics such as digitalization and the increasing complexity of IT strategy. 35 influential speakers from across the IT sector will share their knowledge through best-practice case studies, workshops and round tables, and two days of One2One partnering sessions.”
I am honored to be a part of RETHINK! as a speaker. I will be running an icebreaker session on “mindfulness in the technology age” on the evening of the 24th of April, kick-starting the conference at the Millennium Hotel. My topic is: “From Selfie to Self. How can we secure a human-first approach in digital transformation and what is the importance of mindfulness in the technology age?”. “This is not a typical IT topic”, you might think. And that is exactly one of the reasons I was invited. I guess it is time to “rethink”!
“You might be different to all the other speakers we have, but that is exactly why we want you there. We just love what you do with The Dignified Self. We feel that your take on digital transformation is important and will add a new and valuable angle to our event.”
That is how I remember the RETHINK! team phrasing it in my first call with them. Great people!

I am happy to see that the mission of The Dignified Self also reaches the business world and that there are open-minded and smart people behind IT conferences like this one who see the rising relevance of mindfulness and the preservation of human values and interests – especially in the age of technology, in which data and speed have become a currency. I cannot wait for a great session and mindful exchange with some of the leading IT experts and CIOs on how we can create a better future. A future that will still include self-knowledge through intuition and not only through numbers. A future that includes emotional intelligence and humanity, and not only artificial intelligence and machines. And a presence with mindful managers who feel connected within, and not just with their smartphones. I look forward to seeing you in April!
